Primitive Art
What is it that makes African Art so strong? They call it “Primitive Art” I would rather say Primary Art. It is the art of reduction in order to show not the outer look but the essential. Not only African Art has this power. You find it in all native cultures over the globe. This idea guides my for many years, but now I try to go one step further, to leave the naturalistic shape even more and develop a more substantial form. As all life starts from the egg, it is the egg-shape from which I drew this new collection of animals. This gives them more weight and energy in repose and in movement. The deer is the first one, but there is more to come.
